A Cake Story Wedding Cakes

Whats the difference between a cake from the venue pastry department, a bakery or a commissioned wedding cake artists?

Why do wedding cake prices vary so much?

How can you know if A Cake Story is for you? Let me explain:

How to choose your Wedding Cake:

All wedding cakes should taste exceptional.
That is a given.

The difference is not taste.
The difference is how the cake is approached — and how important it is within your wedding.

There are generally three categories of wedding cakes:

⸻

1. Venue Cake (In-house pastry)
Handled entirely by the venue. No delivery or coordination required from you.

It is efficient and serves its purpose. The cake is brought out, cut, and served.
The design is minimal and not customized around your wedding style.

This option suits couples who simply want to have a cake as part of the cake cutting ceremonial tradition.

⸻

2. External Bakery Cake
This option is typically for weddings that have no onsite pastry department.

Like the venue cake, you choose the flavor and a general look from a catalogue of pre-defined styles. The design is not created in relation to your wedding, it is chosen from what the bakery offers.

Someone from your side will need to:
• pick it up
• transport it to the venue
• ensure it arrives safely and is kept temperature-stable
• coordinate with the venue for cutting and serving

⸻

3. A Cake Story (Commissioning a Cake Artist )
This is a completely different service.

The cake is created to be part of the visual and emotional experience of the day — not just something that is wheeled out on a cart, cut and served.

A Cake Story Wedding Cake is not simply dessert — it’s an immersive experience.

Visually, it becomes part of the décor and overall aesthetic.
It elevates the cake cutting ceremony into something intentional and memorable.
And in the way it’s served — whether as degustation portions, trios, or a full cake bar —

it shapes how your guests experience dessert altogether.

A Cake Story is specialized in designing and creating cakes that go beyond baking.

Combining structural expertise, sugar craftsmanship, and design to produce cakes that are

both visually intentional and technically sound. Each cake is designed and managed entirely

and specifically for your wedding. Everything is curated, coordinated and planned:

• design

• production

• delivery

• setup

• on-site presentation and coordination

A Cake Story coordinates months prior with your planner, stylist, and photographer to make sure the cake is key factor within the entire set up of your wedding. Its part of the show!

I also make sure it’s set up in a way that allows it to be properly photographed, so it actually becomes part of your wedding story and not something that gets overlooked.

All of this happens as part of the process — alongside the design, the delivery, and the setup.

These are details that live outside of the scope for options 1 and 2.

⸻

How do I know which option is right for me?

It really comes down to what is a high priority for your wedding?

The same questions you need to ask for other aspects of your wedding:

Music / Entertainment
Do you want a DJ who is physically there, reading the room, managing the energy, and shaping the atmosphere in real time? Do you want to have live music? Cello or Violine? or is an song playing over internal speakers enough?

Hair and Makeup
Is this something you don’t place much importance on — so you go to a salon, get it done, and leave?
Or do you want a dedicated makeup artist, someone you’ve had a trial with, who comes to you and creates a look specifically for your day?

Flowers
Do you simply want to pick up a bouquet?
Or do you want a floral artist to design something that is considered in relation to your venue and overall aesthetic?

The same applies to your wedding cake.

You can choose something that fulfills the function (ticks a box) or something that is designed as part of the experience.

Neither is wrong - But they are not the same.

⸻

The question is not:

“What does a cake cost?”

The question is:

What role do you want the cake to play in your wedding?

If you are simply looking to have a cake, something that is served and enjoyed, then a venue or bakery cake is often the right choice.

If you are looking for a more elevated, immersive experience; something that creates a moment, something that is part of the visual story of your day, something your guests remember, then that is where A Cake Story comes in.

Working with A Cake Story is not simply ordering a cake.
It is commissioning an edible art piece.

A piece that is designed specifically for your celebration and managed A - Z.

One that is meant to be seen, experienced, and remembered.
